Bilateral antrochoanal polyps in a Sudanese patient: a case report

Abstract Background Antrochoanal polyps (ACPs) are pathologically benign nasal swellings. The maxillary sinus is the commonest reported origin. usually unilateral and often exit through progressively widened ostium to occupy choana may reach nasopharynx. It a disease of adolescents young adults who present with progressive obstruction. Encountering bilateral antrochoanal very rare. Case presentation We report forty years old male had obstruction for 8 associated hyposmia intermittent facial pain headaches. A mass could be seen on anterior rhinoscopy both sides, more prominent left. Endoscopy revealed masses hanging down choanae. Computerized tomography scan nose paranasal sinuses demonstrated polypi widening ostia. During endoscopic surgical excision lesions, were found dilate ostia sinuses. antral, nasal, choanal parts typical sides. histopathology showed inflammatory nature characteristic polyp. Postoperatively, patient’s symptoms resolved dramatically, he continuous regular scheduled follow-up. Conclusion Bilateral can misdiagnosed as sinusitis; radiological features useful specific diagnosis; what special about our that it an addition literature rare (bilateral ACPs), we reporting in older age rather than common younger reports, which demographic data.
